Acelepryn Insecticide
Acelepryn is a turf insecticide built around a single idea: get long-lasting grub control right with one application, then let it handle a lot of other pests along the way. Its active ingredient, chlorantraniliprole (a Group 28 insecticide), delivers season-long suppression of white grubs and turf caterpillars from just one application of 8–16 fl oz per acre, typically applied in April or May.
That same grub-focused treatment also picks up several surface-feeding pests at no extra cost — various caterpillar species, for instance. For superintendents managing annual bluegrass weevil (ABW), a slightly higher rate (12–20 fl oz/A) broadens the control spectrum even further.
One thing that sets Acelepryn apart from older grub products: it performs best when applied early, rather than needing to be timed tightly around grub hatch. That gives turf managers a wider, more flexible application window to work around their own schedules and conditions.
Highlights:
- Season-long control of all major white grub species damaging turf
- Controls turf caterpillars — black cutworms, sod webworms, fall armyworms
- Strong performance against billbugs and annual bluegrass weevil
- Forgiving application: rain or irrigation after treatment can help move it into the soil without compromising results
- No known adverse effects on beneficial organisms like earthworms and honeybees
It’s also labeled for landscape ornamentals, where it controls adult beetles and foliar-feeding caterpillars.
