Compost Topdressing

I like it.

Lots of people doing good things with compost.

Use someone who knows what they’re doing. Or if you do it yourself, use good quality compost.

If it’s not good, quality compost you’ll end up with weeds.

One thing I hear often is people think their soil is dead. That’s not completely true, your soil does have microbes. Believe me.

But, compost can help it out.

But it’s not the end-all, be-all.

Don’t think you can just do it once a year and be good.

You still have to have good cultural practices.

Still have to feed the grass.

Still have to use pre emergents.

So on and so forth.

Use it while the grass is growing.

It’s good, I’ve used it. I sell it.

It is not magic. It will not cure everything.

If used properly, it can give a nice response to the Turfgrass.

But if you’ve got a buncha chinch bug damage. Yeah, please take care of that first. It doesn’t cure that.

Spurge is a problem. Huge problem.

I get so many questions about spurge.

Here’s your spurge checklist.

1. Properly timed spring pre emergent application
2. Use a good surfactant
3. Use the right active ingredients

This is your best shot.
