Entrapment® Insecticide
Entrapment takes a fundamentally different approach to pest control than most insecticides on the market — instead of relying on a toxic active ingredient, it kills mechanically. Built on Attune’s Rhexalloid hydrocolloid technology, Entrapment turns ordinary spray droplets into sticky, physical traps on the leaf surface, controlling insects and mites simply by how the droplets behave once they land.
The mode of action plays out in stages depending on pest size: tiny insects and mites get fully engulfed and suffocated by the droplet; mid-sized pests get physically stuck once an appendage or wing touches the droplet and can’t break free; and larger insects that manage to push through end up coated in residue that immobilizes them once it dries.
Because it’s a physical rather than chemical mode of action, Entrapment sidesteps a lot of the usual insecticide trade-offs. It’s broadly EPA-registered across fruit, nut, vegetable, and row crops, controls a wide spectrum of pests — aphids, thrips, psyllids, whiteflies, scales, leafhoppers, mites, plant bugs, chinch bugs, and small caterpillars — and comes with a 0-day pre-harvest interval and a 4-hour re-entry interval. It’s also exempt from tolerances, shows no phytotoxicity, and tank-mixes cleanly with most insecticides, fungicides, PGRs, and foliar fertilizers.
Since pests can’t easily evolve resistance to a physical trap the way they can to a chemical mode of action, Entrapment is positioned as a rotation tool for resistance management — and it’s gentle enough on beneficial insects to fit into IPM programs.
